Why bookers want the mood board

A casting request that says “fresh, natural, editorial” means something different to every agency. A casting panel with three or four reference images removes the guesswork and gets the right faces into the shortlist the first time.

Panels that matter most: light (it decides make-up and styling), casting (it decides who the agency sends) and wardrobe (it decides sizes and fittings).

Our guide Mood board template for a fashion shoot explains each panel in detail. When the board is approved, write the casting call and plan the day with the call sheet maker.

Frequently asked questions

What is a mood board for a shoot?

A one-page visual brief that shows the light, casting, wardrobe, hair and make-up, location and references for a shoot, so everyone works towards the same picture.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Images you add are shown only in your browser and are not sent to Jurgita Network. They disappear when you close the page, so save the board as a PDF.

Can I use any image I find online?

Mood boards are internal references, but copyright still applies. Keep boards private, credit sources where you can and never publish other people's photos as your own work.

How do bookers use a mood board?

The casting panel tells the agency what look the client wants, which makes shortlists faster and more accurate. Send the board with the casting request.

How many images should a mood board have?

Enough to make each decision clear and no more. Two to six images per panel usually do the job.
